Vaccinations are essential to helping your horse live a long and healthy life. We follow the Vaccination Guidelines set by the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Core vaccinations will prevent rabies, tetanus, encephalitis, and West Nile virus. Other vaccinations are available depending on your horse's needs. We utilize Zoetis vaccines, which come with a guarantee. If your horse does get sick despite the vaccine, Zoetis will cover most medical costs.
Based on the American Association of Equine Practitioner's Guidelines, we no longer recommend de-worming every other month. Instead, annual fecal egg counts are recommended to determine the parasite burden of each individual horse. Fecal egg counts involve analyzing a fresh fecal sample and county parasite eggs. From there, de-worming recommendations are made.
The Coggins test, is a blood test that checks for Equine Infectious Anemia, a viral disease with no cure. An annual Coggins test is recommended for all horses, regardless of whether they leave the farm or not. It is required by law for any horses traveling off property and boarding barns. We offer digital Coggins tests eliminating the need to find paperwork and call the office last minute for your paperwork. Once completed, results are available 24/7 online and via your email address.
Annual dental examinations/floats are recommended in most horses. During the float, sharp points, abnormal wear patterns, and other abnormalities of the teeth can be addressed.
